Hi,
I currently have a ATi Radeon 9200 128MB card. This plays some games well, but games like Splinter Cell: Pandora tomorrow and KOTOR play with low frame rates. So i have decided to get a new card. Id like something with enough power to play new games, at a decent frame rate.

I have £200 to spend...

My pc spec's at the moment:
P4 2.66 Ghz
512 MB RAM (thinking of upping to 1GB)
80 GB HDD
ATi Radeon 9200 128MB
DVD+ Rewriter

what new cards does anyone suggest with a budget of £200. I plan to only upgrade my graphic card once a year.

The GeForce 6800 Ultra is far more forward looking; with better PCIe compatability, a bridge chip, more pixel pipelines and advanced shader techniques.

While the X800 performs better in a few benchmark tests, with two 6800 Ultra's you could have performance nearly 2.5x faster.

I would go for a 9800 Pro or XT, they will run most modern games on high detail, games like HL2 and Doom 3 will run easily but obviously with the details turned down a bit.

When you look at the specifications and benchmark tests, no, it isn't really.

Wrong, the X800 XT Platinum Edition is the best card out there. Everyone with a slight knowledge of PC gaming knows that.

The nVidia GeForce 6800 range is the best card out there.

Yeah 9800 Pro. The next step up would be a X800 Pro but there £300. A 9800 Pro can be found for about £120 so why not spend the rest on getting that extra 512mb of RAM as well as the updated graphics.

Yeah, the gfx card is holding back the rest of the system really.

My dad got a 9800 Pro last week, and it's wonderful.

the Radeon 9200 128mb, should be more then enough to run those games very well, and with your PC spec i dont see why they should have slow frame rate.
