now.... these RAM buggers.

Heres my set-up

Fufitsu Siemens SCALO T
Pentium 4 3.4 HT
250 GIG HD
DVD writer
Mutlticard reader
512 little RAM buggers
ATI X800 256 AGP card (updated from 9600)

It plays half life 2 ok, not on specatcular settings, but not bad..
I dont know what type of RAM my computer uses, and it's not documented on my manual.

but does RAM make that much of a difference? would an extra gig make it play games that much better??!

thanks!

Trust me, I don't think it'll matter.

Got another 512MB of PC3200 RAM the other week. Works a charm now 1208x1024 resolution 4xAA and 8x anotrophic something or other.
lowest ive seen the FPS go down to is 27 when on the airboat whizzing around with the water reflecting everything, well chuffed never thought RAM would make that much difference

just waiting for broadband over here (may 25th...) so I can sample CS source which I cant wait!
just means everyone else has has 7 months more experiance than me so I'm gonna get pwned.

my pc plays half life 2 smooth with the graphics turned up full but when i go round a corner it has to load more of the hard drive so i am getting more ram, you can see how fast your ram is by opening up the pc, i think
More ram will make a difference

I recommend OCuK's GEIL Value RAM.

'Tis cheap, 'tis good.

I only have a 9600XT and 1GB RAM, but I can run HL2 at good (1024x768 2x AA, AF) settings with FPS around 60-80.

Hope it helps...

The best bet would be to see what the other stick of ram is, and get the same speed as that.

tried CPU-Z cant decide what type it is!

I guess it's an expensive phone call to siemens.

I think it is definatly slowing due to it reading off the HDD, where its quite a big drive I think thats where the lag is, I think an extra Gig ontop of the 512 I have should speed it along nicely!

and cookie monster

my FSB is 200 quad pumped to 800 with a meg level 2 cache if that makes any difference :-@

DDR 533 is incredibly expensive as it is PC4400 or so. He'd want PC3200/DDR400
