Kyle - Defoe

40,000 people came to his tribute match. Which was a pre-season friendly. Only He could have got that many people to come to a friendly...

Yesh, right on.
Genius was the man.
He fully retired now?
I thought you were arguing that Drogba is better than Defoe, which at this point in time is not the case in my opinion.
Drogba will come good, no question.

No-one can ever EVER replace Franco.
I've always been a fan of Defoe, and when Alec was annoyed when spurs bought him, I re-assured him of what a quality player he is.
Drogba proved his worth last season, and is playing brilliantly this season, scoring about the same number of goals as Defoe - but some at a higher level.
Therefore Drogba is not crap.

Drogba does next to nothing and you love him. And its not just THIS season I've rated Defoe, all the time he was at West Ham he was their best striker. Personally I was surprised when he went to Spurs and not Manchester Utd/Arsenal/etc. He IS good enough for that level.

You make it seem like Drogba's done more, when in all honesty he hasn't.
> And you forget Drogba is just settling in....
Awww, poor baby, when does he finish using nappies then?
He's settling into Premiership football, perhaps, but that doesn't take away from the fact that Defoe has impressed more so far. And that WAS the arguement, from what I gather.

Are you sure? I seem to remember him missing two stone cold sitters against Portsmouth. Bigger, yes. Quicker - I wouldn't like to be the judge, have you got proof?
Drogba probably would have tried to be fancy, chested it and in an attempt to overhead it, fall on the floor having missed the ball. Actually, knowing your luck it probably would have then landed on his arm and gone ailing into the top corner, before you all start hailing him as the new Zola.
Defoe scores one goal and you love him.
This season he has:
- Scored from 6 yards at homeagainst LIVERPOOL, yes LIVERPOOL - hardly an achievement.
- Scored a deflected goal at home
- and something else.
And you forget Drogba is just settling in....
He's stronger, bigger, quicker than Defoe and can head a ball better, hit a ball just as hard, and finish just as well.
