Actually Drum solos can be some of the more powerful. It's not just about the rhythm, it's the general feel of the beats and the changes between different kits, drums and also cymbals.

Drums are percussion and don't add to the melody, so they're still solos.

It's true though, I listen to "solo's" all the time, but I can;t quite work out where the solo is becasue there's always drums in teh background - which isn't a bad thing, but they're not "solo"

Drum solos are the best, can I know when a drum solo is, because there's no guitar in the background, if only it was the same for guitars.

Eruption by Van Halen is supposed to be a guitar solo, and it's amazing, but it's not a solo, becasue you cna hear drum rolls in it every so often.

A solo is never a solo. There is almost always a drum beat in the background.
The best solos are the ones that are solo.
