I have two brothers that are much younger than me (4 and 6) so I am able to keep in touch with what goes on at infant school and which programmes are shown on cbeebies, and other channels of that nature, and it is not how I remember it.
For example, the nursery rhyme Baa Baa Black Sheep has been given a second verse which starts Baa Baa White Sheep. Personally, I think it's pointless but apparently some people find it offensive to sing about black sheep. I am aware that Baa Baa Black Sheep was originally a slave song but I doubt that there are any four year olds, black or white, that realise this. Nowadays it's about sheep, just sheep, just like nobody associates Ring-a-ring of roses with the black death (no doubt we'll banned from saying that soon).
One final example is Postman Pat. In the new series there is an Asian family. As far as I remember there were plenty of characters in the old series and they are just being put there for the sake of it and to my knowledge (correct me if I'm wrong) there aren't many asian families in country side villages. Having an asian family in Eastenders makes sense though because that reflects reality. Also, the song no longer mentions Postman Pat and his black and white cat, but Postman Pat and Jess the cat. Is anyone offended by this sort of thing?
I'd like to say again that I'm not trying to be offensive but if any offence has been caused then I apologise.
Finally, this is supposed to be a serious post so don't use it as a way of laughing at me for having an overly extensive knowledge of Postman Pat. Like I said, I have younger brothers.
hands up?

Most Christmas decorations in shops have nothing to do with the religious side of Christmas, they are mainly pictures of Father Christmas and Snowmen. Besides, I know a few non-Christian families that celebrate Christmas.
Yes, shops should take down Christmas decorations because it's "offensive" to other religions, but I could bet that shops in China wouldn't take down Chinese New Year decoarations,or stop their festivals because it's offensive.
Maybe we should just nuke Feminists, they're the real casue of all of earths problems.
That and anything activists. What I don't understand is say, Gay-activists who aren't even gay.
WHY?
It's the same with this "wheelchair users" thing.
You can imagine the tannoy's at supermarkets: -
"are there any WHEELCHAIR USERS in the building? PLEASE MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE FRONT SO WE CAN HELP YOU WITH YOUR SHOPPING. Thats WHEELCHAIR users only"

No, I'm saying all this furore to PC-ness is just stupid. Because NOBODY, EVER, EVER, EVER adheres to it. It's greedy compensation-guzzling people who propogate it, and it's easy meat for papers and people to whine at, when in fact it makes sod all difference to anyone's lives.
Apparently, we are not allowed to call Old people 'OAP's. We have to call them 'Old people'. We're not allowed to call people disabled, wheelchair bound or any variations, we have to call such people 'wheelchair users'. We're not allowed to call anyone 'invalid', as it means not valid (no sh**). We're not allowed to say someone is 'hard of hearing', we have to say they are deaf ... !?
Also, it was outlined that £30 million of government money has been put aside just for compensation pay outs for 'victims' of these incorrect none-PC statements.
It makes me sick to my stomach. I don't label people for a kick off anyway, but if we live in a world where a supermarket can be sued for calling someone 'hard of hearing', I say bring on the nukes.

So political correctness can be blown way out of proportion but we're not allowed to respond on an equal level?
It's all idiocy - trying to make everyone equal when they're clearly not.
