Yup, there's now a directors cut of this film which, apparently, now almost makes sense. The special effects have been improved (there's 20 mins more footage too) and Frank now sounds truly like a Daemon rabbit from Hell. The cut is more than just an insertion of scenes into the existing tale and now includes excerpts from the book on timetravel, close ups off Donnie's visions (in his eyes) and Frank now talks to Donnie more often to make sure that Donnie (and in turn the viewer) sees everything that he is supposed to.

Anyway go find out for yourselves...info at Channel 4 or BBC or on the internet generally.

Most of the "new" scenes are taken from the bonus features on the original DVD anyway. The DVD of the directors cut has a new commentary including Kevin Smith, which should be interested even if it is a bit random.

I liked the Back to the Future references... that was about it.

It had two cast offs from Independence Day in it, Darko's mum and the rabbit guy. That's never a good sign.

I liked it. Although I hadn't heard of it before I watched it, so that might be why.

Darko suffers from thinking it's intelligent, when actually it's no more intelligent than Back to the Future or any of the other time travel films out there.

However the original film cheats the viewer and doesn't make sense. The explanation to the film is held within the associated website, the book on time travel and so on. I don't want to watch a film and then have to go off and do some research to try and make sense of it.

And if I can't (and I know some of the more intelligent posters on this forum couldn't either) understand a film; it's deliberately unfathomable.

Overhyped. I watched it expecting something great, and got nothing special at all. I got it, I understood what was happening, it just isn't a very good film.

I think during the commentary for the DVD thats out the director says that he likes that the film doesn't give everything to you on a platter and you have to work it out, this will ruin it if they've decided they need to explain all to the idiots and i'd rather they leave Franks voice alone, it was perfect as it was.

My sentiments exactly. I hate it when people do that.

According to Empire the deleated scenes are deleated for a reason... the pace is ruined and the air of the film is damaged and ultimatly disappointing.

Still a wonderful 4 star film but not quite the five star they were hopeing for.

Yes. Just how exactly do you like the 'original' better, when this new version isn't released yet?
