You have a squad that has had man management issues, has some rude boys and thugs. Who do you appoint, anyone but graeme souness, Every player that leaves blackburn says he is a t**t, even some that stay say it.
Next we come on to his management record, Blackburn have scraped survival the last couple of seasons and he has ruined the solid squad of 2 seasons ago and made random crap signings.
What a joke, i will confidently say the big 5 is now the big 4.
worst appointment......EVAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Glen Hoddle in charge of England... awful right? But he did win a friendly competiton against Italy, Brazil and France...
I see it as being partially down to luck. You watch, the environment, the players and the manager could work out.
You won't be screaming worst appointment ever when Newcastle become the surprise team of the premiership.
he is like that annoying teacher who thinks every one respects him and fears him, shouts and screams and everyone ignores him and thinks he is a twattt.
Go figure and you'll realise why he's been appointed as manager.
Come to think of it, there's no-one really on the Newcastle team that I'd want....

No, you don't take Blackburn from promotion into the UEFA Cup in a season or two if you're a crap manager. Yeah, recently, he's been off form, but I'd say that's more to do with not having as strong a squad to select from as he did a couple of years before.

Yeah, and how many of them would actually be willing to take the job? As far as I've heard, at least 5 turned it down. I didn't say he was the candidate I would have chosen if everyone in the Premiership put their name down, but I was arguing against your opinion that he's the "crapest appointment in Premiership history", which is blatant crap.

Ever thought of the possibility that Bruce might want to stay on at Birmingham and build on the strong team he's produced since their promotion? If I were in his situation, I wouldn't take the Newcastle job, even if the pay was greater, because quite simply I'd know I'd formed a team by myself, and I'd want to build further. The same for Steve McClaren, David O'Leary and Sam Allardyce, other managers who have been linked with the job.

I doubt Strachan would accept either, even although I agree that he is an excellent manager and would do well at Newcastle, as well as any other club. He left Southampton because he wanted a break from football management altogether, not so he could go and join Newcastle a couple of months down the line.
Never did I say I believed Souness was the ideal man for the job and the candidate I would have chosen, but he isn't a bad manager as you appear to be thinking.
To be honest there are at least 15 mangers in the premierleague alone i would have had instead.
I would have strongly considered paying birmingham the 5 million they wanted, as at least you get a dcent manager and it will work out cheaper that having to pay souness of when they sack him in 9-21 months time and have to pay him compensation and appoint a new boss.
Ask strachan in till may would probably have been the best option. Get a good little motivator in, ask shearer to assist and at least you have a motivator and someone who knows the squad to hold it together, then the situation can be reassessed. And they would have huge amounts of choice in june next year of better callibre managers, or ask strachan to stay if they like him.
