Oh I've just thought of a new one. Offer a prize as a reward when a person gets promoted through the ranks - such as from newbie to regular all the way to the top. This would be a good incentive to keep returning to the site. Would have to be genuine posts not just resubmitting via copy and paste - could be a bit tricky to administor though.

As I sit here at the start of a new day after reading plenty of MIST posts I get the feeling that you all want MIST to work. Thanks to all of you that have expressed they like the MIST banner - I designed it! Nice to have positive praise. There seems to be a chicken and egg situation.

In order for my boss to promote this forum it needs to be popular (as far as I can tell), but in order for this to be popular the site needs more promotion! Hence our dilemma (excuse spelling - it is late!).

So what do we do?

1) Repost the banner (at the mo it is off the site) as it seems to be liked

2) Try and place it on other popular sites

3) Use the same design to advertise it in the club mag to generate a strong and recognisable image for the forum.

4) Design follow up banners and ads in the same style to generate a strong and recognisable image for the forum.

5) Design a banner for FOG forum (not one at the mo as far as I know)AND MIST on the same banner as to increase peoples awareness of FOG and then also MIST (get more awareness to people using FOG to know about MIST - they will recognise the FOG wording then think but what is MIST)

6) Seriously consider a slight name change from Morbid Insomniacs Short Topics' to 'Midnight Insomniacs Short Topics' as suggested by Dr. Duck. I did not use the first name on the banner for fear of putting people off. Midnight is friendly and is more of a signal when to start posting on MIST or switching from FOG.

7) Organise online gaming competitions once a month (for example) that start at midnight and are only open to recognised regular MIST members (and have a prize attatched like gameaday).

8) Organise a real world (as opposed to web) gaming competition (Saturday night!) that starts at midnight with a couple of hours of build up (possibly - have to think that one through a bit more)

9) Design a trading card game based on the images (send in photos) and personalities of the regualr people who use the site to be sold through our site and club shops (this could be reissued every half a year or year to generate people becoming regular users in order to see themselves incorporated into a professionally desiged and printed card game! - think of the fame and showing your mates!)

10) Go to bed as I've got magazine typesetting to do (oh - that one a note myself!)

Anyway, as you can tell I was inspired by the chance to design the MIST banner. I hope MIST will stay alive. So I hope these suggestions will help. Basically tell all your mates to get chatting at mightnight!

Thats what I hate about it, it is restricted. The MIST name can stay but I think that it would become more popular as a 24/7 thing.

How about a breeding ground for newbies? I will take them on, then they can feel free to move to FOG, stay in both or whatever they choose.

Newbies want the people to be nice to them at first, so I and others will help :->

We could put together a forward email, like a questionare like in girly magazine and the anwsers you choose most show what you are like. e.g say you choose more A's out of a,b and c then you look at what anwser A says after you work ut what you anwsered most.

It could be like, 'Are you a MIST user?' anwser these questions and then visit the site to see if its true. Pass it on to a mate to see if he qualifys.

But the questions can be like can you stay awake? like that. And some others that will make a variety of people anwser.

What ya think?

Hmmmmmm how about a list of the top 10 MIST Isomatics or whatever you call it?

The top MIST posters or the person that wrote the best MIST topics for that day. No prize needed, just gives a bit of credit.

or maybe the person that stayed up latest. We could have many awards?

What you think on that one?
