Its the new free e-mail thing from Google. Going through a beta testing type stage at the moment.
Get 1000MB of space to store e-mails which means you probably wont have to delete any messages.

Google then run software that scans your mail looking for certain terms and displays adverts in your inbox that they feel you may be interested in.
