Another free game up for grabs - best walkthrough/guide gets the prize. I'll let Silent Thunder give you the lowdown:

A walkthrough for the forums. Maybe it could help all the nice JATs and newbies by getting to know all the users. Basically you take the whole list of posters, I think the top posters for the last 30 days would be best as these guys and gals are still around and write a little guide to them. Whether it be they eat newbies or adore them and what forums they hang out in etc. It would be nothing personal like "They like chips and pizza" because well.. it's the Internet. Just a little friendly guide to all the users.

Also when ether a JAT / Newbie signs up they will probably feel slightly overwhelmed, this can easily be solved with a guide to the forums and how to get started. And where to post certain topics etc.

And like all the Extra GADs you obviously won't want it to be too serious so the guides would try to be comical and slightly 'wacky' as it were. Also improving the atmosphere of the forums to new users, if they see a serious walkthrough / guide to the users and forums they will think: boring. But seeing a funny one will make them want to stay because ukchatforums.com is a fun, friendly place.

So a summary:

> A guide to all the forums on ukchatforums.com, what to post where etc.

> A guide to the top 100 posters in the last 30 days or something a long these lines - just make sure the guide covers all the members who are still around.

> A guide / walkthrough how to get started at ukchatforums.com E.g. Introduce yourself in General Chat

You guide won't have to follow this exact structure, but gives you a good idea of what we're looking for.

Best entry will of course win a game of your choice and hopefully see your thread stickied for all to see.

Closing date is 10pm on October 14th.

Good luck to all who choose to enter!

-------------------------FORUM WALKTHROUGH---------------------------

Welcome

Welcome to Special Reserve’s UK chat forums. Enjoy your stay here at the most lively, uncluttered and intelligent group of forums on the internet. Here you’ll truly learn some of the greatest ever lessons in life, from our many talented members. From authors, to policemen, to students, to revenue officers (no less) all forms of life walk these forums and share their experiences with the tight nit community here. All different views are shared here too, with debates a regular occurrence in the life forum and banter likely in sport. Other traits and unique touches yet to be explained make this the most exciting interactive environment on the internet and it’s not hard to see why…

Short Story Competition

The ‘Life and Everything’ forum plays host to this old SR favourite. The idea behind SSC is really quite simple; you take one SR member and they set a subject for members wishing to participate such as ‘an old mill’ or ‘fuel’ to write about. The competition is optional, but all members have the opportunity to enter within a couple of weeks of it being opened. This creates many diverse stories to read; humour, horror and happy stories included. You could try your hand at either entering the competition or just enjoying reading through some of the great entries. The best efforts will rank in the competition judged by the member who set the subject. Three places are up for grabs, with the winner setting the next topic in the line and as a further bonus; if an SR Staffie really likes your story you could win GAD as well! Who knows; you could write an SSC winning entry.

Computer Help

Head to ‘Web Design and PC’ if you ever have a problem with your computer, as the computer experts there are only too happy to offer a hand. Primarily, this is supposed to be a discussion topic, but it often turns into a PC help forum. SR also now have a trained Staffie to help you with your problems. Specially trained in SR’s internet provider (Freeola); he’s very helpful and he doesn’t command a fee, even when he’s posting late at night! Some of the jargon is rather complex here, so feel free to ask questions if you don’t understand some of the feedback your receiving from some of the more able members. Remember though not to stress out these kind people, as they won’t appreciate it if you send them a barrage of inpatient questions and problems. Also; remember to give everyone an update on your problem, and don’t forget to say ‘thank you’! If you’re a wiz on a computer, perhaps you could also offer advice to other struggling members too.

Write an article

If you fancy yourself as a bit of a writer and think you could match the news being spread in the ‘Monkey News’ section of the site; make your way to either FOG Chat or FOG Prime and try your hand at writing your own article. You could be devious and try and start a debate or argument, asking which is the best console, video game or any thing else related to current gaming news. Alternatively you could send in a compilation of your favourite games, stage a vote, or any other event through SR that gets people racking their brains and gets SR talking about the latest news. If you’re article or piece really achieves something for the forums; it could be considered for the prestigious GAD prize. Anyone can write an article, but could you write a piece worth of winning a free game?

Stage a debate

For all the intelligent posters out there, ‘Life and Everything’ is the place to be. Mainly consisting of debating ethical grounds – one thing is for sure in Life, it’s dead serious. Whether debating Christianity or morals, relationship problems, homework help or just problems in life in general, the Life forum will get you thinking. Views are equally shared, though certain members have their moments of disagreement; you’ll soon learn the three syllable names to look out for. It’s not for the faint hearted at times; it does get a little heated but then again that is half the fun of a feisty whole-hearted debate about something worthwhile. There are some top thinkers in the boards so do be respectful of all opinions. Be careful if you do have a debate that you don’t offend anyone’s beliefs (unnecessarily). If anyone does cross the line be sure to report their posts, certain members have been known to receive warnings. Above all, post constructively and enjoy the debates if you can.

Banter

The most emotive forum has to be ‘Sport’, where fans of any sport (particularly football) seem to like to ‘discuss’ who is the best player, which is the best team and generally discus the beautiful game, cricket, basketball (we do have fans) and other popular sports. As well as this, be sure to follow your favourite console and root for them in their respective forum. Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft all have their own special forums, where you can discuss how their performances are, recent games just out and what the future holds for the companies. You might even discover which games are hot thanks to SR members. Again, if you have any problems with setting anything up from network play to completing a mission on GTA; there’s always help on hand. However if you have a problem with anything SR related, for instance products or service; you need to go to ‘Site Bugs and Help’, for the relevant help and information.

Everything else

If my little guide to the forums doesn’t answer all your questions, then you probably need the Rules http://ukchatforums.com/forumrules.php . This briefly, clearly underlines what is acceptable and what isn’t. There are some other things for you to be aware of and discover, for instance the user ranking system, explained in this page http://ukchatforums.reserve.co.uk/popups/users_popup.php . As time goes by you’ll discover other aspects to the forums, like the top posters list, how to edit posts, add hyperlinks to them, use other HTML tags and even how to ignore users. One final warning before you enter SR. Please don’t use text language, it’s an unofficial rule but it annoys members beyond reason. Just have fun, keep it clean, stick to the rules and above all enjoy Special Reserve’s UK chat forums – the best on the net!
