"C&VG - Taken over?"

So, Teletext were saying that Future have taken over ownership of C&VG magazine and that they will suspend the mag for a while. Any truth?

But yes, you have a point, most magazines are simply fluff, full of stuff you've seen before elsewhere. There are a few exceptions, Edge included, GamesTM isn't bad and the odd indies here and there are worth a read.

Most gaming mags are 'kiddy', they are usually very thin, contain screenshots and hardly any written info (because gamers can't read, can they?), have pathetic gifts such as chocolate bars, have crappy demos on the free discs and you need to remortgage your house just to afford one (exaggeration, smart asses).

The only mag I find remotely interesting is Edge. Why pay through the nose anyway, when I can get all my info and screenshots/reviews etc from the good ship SR, or gamerankings.com?

Yep. Dennis Publishing now have no presence in the games magazine market at all. Future have bought C&VG and PC Zone, and while the latter will continue to be published, C&VG is to be suspended for a while. Not much danger of it being canned entirely though, I'm sure it'll relaunch in the new year as a slightly less 'kiddy' magazine.

(and I don't mean that kind of kiddy magazine)
