He's there to manage a football team, not to entertain, as he said. He doesn't give a damn what the people and the press think, and the guy is very brave to say what he said about the media. They'll definitely have it in for him now, but the guy is clever - half the time they'll just be forced to make up some half-assed story about something that he didn't do because he isn't an idiot like Eriksson, setting himself up for all these articles.

I like him. People are all "oh he's so arrogant". Yeah, what's the problem with that? Confidence is a positive, you know.

He lost the ball far too much, never looked like tackling back, and considering he was up against the Palace defence, I didn't see one moment of "genius" from the kid, much as I hate to say it.

he can, but he wont, coz smithy will be a legend. kezman and droggy will, like crespo and mutu be a passing fad for abramovich.

Drogba and Kezman look a bit hopeless, really. Its all the same with these players that come from abroad, they haven't experienced the Premiership so they either take a long time to get going or fizzle out eventually. Sure, there are a few in Chelsea's line up that are doing well, but it seems to happen all too often.

Chelsea should have been bringing in players proven at Premiership level. Duff and Bridge were great signings for them, and Lampard has been equally superb.

can you shut up about alan smith! :-) Drogba and kezman scored more goals last season than smith has scored in his entire premiership career. 2 goals doesn't make a player. Its like 2 exceptional goals and suddenly he's the best think ever and the first was a hit and hope. Yes he is pure commitment, yes he is english, no he's not the new ruud.

Oi! Other Ash!

I said I'd watched two matches and both were boring, because its completely true. Never once did I say that Chelsea were boring.

The match last night, well, where can I start. Joe Cole, normally being a player that excites, was absolutely awful. Tiago had one moment of magic and that was about it. This Drogba looks a waste of money. Looks like Liverpool got the better side of the young French strikers.

From the two games I've seen so far, Chelsea just look a completely unisnpiring defensive side that are never going to concede many goals, but never play attacking football that people really want to watch.

I wouldn't say last night's match was boring...

Infact, with Joe Cole in that 'diamond' midfield, it really was quite exciting at times to see Lampard, Tiago and even Makelele zipping the ball in and around the Palace defense.

The best came from the Palace fans and players though, who, for the first-half at least, we all really up-for-it.

Every time Droga mucked-up. Each time Mateja Kezman failed to get his first strike for his new club. Every time a Palace player lunged-in (Alan Smith-like) to free the ball and bring than £80,000-a-week 'superstar' back down to Earth! :)

All for the same reasons I loved the Leeds-Arsénal FA Cup tie last season (even though, Leeds should've had a penalty and Arsénal won...).
