I quite liked it. Could guess that it was set in modern times and not the 1800's or whenever.
Good to see a leading man get stabbed half way through a movie then not see him again. Good to have a director cast someone pretty big, and then not use them throughout.
One thing that got me, the box in the corner with the big secret in, all along I was wondering what would be inside, and have to say I was disappointed. I thought there should have been a portable DVD player, and a copy of the Sixth Sense - that would have been cool...
I saw it on Friday, and arnt sure what i feel about "The Village". It definately didnt deserve the poor reviews in got in the US. I think they only gave it poor reviews because of their expectations. The trailers for this film are so misleading, because it gives you the impression this film is going to be a battle between the "red cloaked monsters" and the Yellow suited villagers. It turns out to be the opposite. In one way its very clever, the film is the exact opposite of what you expected, which is a good thing. On the other hand, its a dissapointment, I would have rather had it so the creatures are actually real (rather than the elder villagers dressed in costumes). That said, its a good concept in which a set of people (who are all bereaved of a loved one) got together in a counsiling commitee and organised a "New way of living", ie, "The Village". The red clothed "demons" were just a illusion to cover up for this "way of living". A way of keeping peace within a community. The acting was very convincing, much better than of recent drivle (king arthur), and the story was inspirational. Its something different to whats usually on at the cinema, its only the naive who cant accept its "different". I had to convince myself at times whether it was enjoyable or not, I guess the premature ending didnt help though.
Its a sort of big brother in the 1890's set in a village kinda film (without the cameras). Id have to give it 8/10 if I had to give a score.
Heathcliff it's me oh cathy I've come home.
And as for Wuthering Heights I never saw the film...
Didn't want to ruin the book. Best book ever written.
