CPU:
Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz 800FSB 1MB http://uk.special.reserve.co.uk/q_GG4583_cpu_intel_pentium_.html

Nice, eh? I reckon it's all ok, but if any of you guys could tell me whether there are compatability issues or key components that I've missed, I'd appreciate it. Also, if you know of anywhere to get any of these cheaper, then please say (unless the product is stocked by Special Reserve, in which case, keep it shtun).

Also - for cooling, aside from a CPU cooler, how do I know what size fans I should get and how many? I'm not sure whether the specification on the case tells me this or not, and I don't know how many I would need for a cool case.

Thanks a lot.

I'm quite surprised how cheap the Hitachi Deskstar is. Are they known to be unreliable or anything like that? Anybody here own one?

Let's just say they used to be known as Deathstars.

Try getting a Maxtor or Western Digital instead.

Hmm... I kind of wanted to stay away from the OEM stuff.

How's this for a CPU cooler? http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=1206599411&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=63317#pinfo

OEM is your friend.

And that PSU seems too cheap.

Yep, 520W is overkill, to say the least. Better to spend £50-60 on a decent brand PSU with lower power output.

You can never have too much power...

The GeForce 6800 requires 480w at least, so going 500w+ is likely for the best. It looks like a decent PSU - triple fan, silent, etc. £50 isn't that cheap - I certainly don't want to spend any more.

A 330W Antec costs £50, trust me, 500w for £50 is cheap.
