I never realised how hard it'd be to get a job, what with me being a student. Me and a friend have been trying for about 2 months now - Supermarkets, DIY Stores, computer game shops...I even went into one of those amusement arcades, Teddy's or something, but to no avail. I've signed up with an agency and I ring them up from time to time but they say the only jobs available require me to have a car. The problem is, the people who interview me realise that I'll be quitting come September to go back to Uni so don't hire me. Annoying.
I also need to get fitter.
I need a good hair-cut.
I need to make some friends at Uni.
I need to stop being miserable for no good reason.
i know i've had barely any. i asked my dad (who works in the employment industry) and he said it's just a really quiet summer, sucks but it happens :S
good luck though dude...
Yeah Sheepy, I remember you saying you don't really know anybody at your Uni. I don't know what it is with me, maybe I'm being too reclusive or something. In my defense though, most of the people in my class (and all of my flatmates) are idiots and that's not me being too judgemental, it's the truth.
I have a job though, I'm a supervisor.
They send application pack, you fill in details.
They ask for interview, you do interview.
The give you job, you take job.
You become rich.

And it's just general office stuff, answering the phone, filing, photocopying, dossing on the internet.
And phi11ip, what is it you do for the council for them to pay you that much? How did you go about getting it? Aside from ringing them up and asking for a job I mean...

:p
Couple of places you wouldn't have thought about:
Local police, enquire about their temporary staff pool. You get called up to fill in for general office jobs like filing and phones. Pays good though, 3 years ago I got £6.11 an hour full time for 3 weeks.
Local council, same thing. Just I'm getting £6.80 an hour this time. I'll be sorted moneywise after this summer.
99% of retail jobs would have gone by now, most offices in the cities want longer temp jobs or have already filled their 'holes.'
I got a job with the council 3 days after my interview.
