Confused by his a***-talk, I stuck a few numbers on a spreadsheet, printed it out, then called the police to ask if they'd deliver the report for me.
Image my embarrassment when I found out that COP was an acronym for Close of Play and he didn't mean an officer of the law at all!

"Close of Play" is yet another pointless phrase to confuse matters further. It means the end of the working day, but to say that would be too simple. It's like taking a normal phrase, creating a euphemism for in, and then turning that into an acronym. Utterly pointless.
Good job you found out COP actually means EOD or in financial markets COM.
However, don't tell him to FOD, else you may be looking at a P45...
