Hardly the ultimate month to release a console, nor is it actually a good idea at all. Perhaps the Autumn 2005 rumour is true? Regardless it looks like Nintendo will have some lead over Sony again. 3 months sales can do the world of good. Nintendo currently have free reign over the American market.

Apparently the PSP chips aren't readily avalible so the launch maybe delayed. Meaning it'll miss the end of the fiscal year. By missing that Sony can pretty much release the console whenever they want in the next 12 months and their shareholders will be happy. And saving the system up for Christmas with a tonne of software could be a great way to keep those shareholders happy.

I wouldn't hold onto that though. Looks like June it is. Interesting.

Would it be better to release them a day/week earlier? Because there's not much chance of the PSP selling out so noone in a que for a PSP is likely to come home with a DS. But getting some decent titles out a week before would be better to tempt someone saving up for a PSP to spend what they have saved on a DS.

Also if that worked then they'd do more damage to Sony's sales in a weeks time then trying to release things on the same day when their games will get overshadowed by the PSP launch.

Damn I've joined the hypothetical stable only DX (Degeneration not WS) can save me now!!! :D

Another thing worth noting is the $250 of the PSP in America. Sure it features a few gubbins but considering the DS is avalible with a demo for $100 less that's a hell of a good thing for Nintendo.

I do expect to see new colour DS' and a few popular titles released on the day of the PSP to try and counter the system.

Too much reliance on cutting edge technology will bite you in the ass.

By the time the chips are ready the PSP casings will probably have fallen apart anyway.
