Just take a look around, what do you see?

Who are you, what kind of a gamer are you on the inside, I have different names for different kinds of gamers.

The 'Hardcore Gamer' : The hardcore gamer has to have been around for at least 10 years, playing games ranging from the NES classics to the Dreamcast greats. These gamers are what make the market so great, they are the difference between companies releasing average games and amazing games, these gamers are the icing on the gaming cake.

The 'Average Gamer' : Although this gamer likes to think himself a cut above the rest, the fact is he is not, he plays games for the enjoyment and is always beaten when placed against any hardcore gamer. He is probably the boy next door with all the games and all the money, but boy oh boy he really is so bad at playing them.

The 'Street Gamer' : Hang on, a couple of weeks back 'The Simpsons Wrestling' went to number one in the charts, who brought this very bad game, the average and hardcore gamers have more sense, the 'street gamer' buys games which have been heavily advertised, if he sees others buying he doesn't want to be left out. These gamers populate the market and normally you will get a mixture between street and average, that is a bad combination...

The 'Union Gamer': Union gamers, the ones which always say 'I have never played this before' and the probably haven't, these gamers like to play at friends houses, they don't own a console or PC and are strangely good at multiplayer games...

The 'Modest Gamer': Everything this gamer owns is apparentely the 'best ever' thing in the world, even if has just brought WWTBAM he will still classify the game as 10/10. Don't listen to this gamer, he just isn't worth it.

The 'Hyping Gamer': Now this gamer is a tricky one, he can be a type of the above listed (you can get a hardcore hyping gamer), there position is to hype the product that they are going to buy, whether it be MGS2 or Mario Kart Advance, they will let you know the release, the characters and before they have even played it they will give you a review??

There are many more types of gamers, but the above are the ones that I come across on my travels to become the greatest games tester the world has ever seen (sorry about the bad Pokemon joke).

Next time you are at a friends or in a games shop, take a look around, the people who are standing next to you will fit into one of the above catagories, you just have a look, the hardcore gamer may be there to help you, the hyping gamer may be there to lead you away astray..

Thanks for reading

I would be someone who buys games if people have said they are good or if I have read the reviews and they appear great. I can’t put a game away until it is completed. I’m too much of a wimp to buy a game that someone has called “crap”. I would stay up most of the night playing games. I love saying, “I haven’t played this game before” when I’m around my mates house (even though I have the game at play it regularly) so when we have a multiplayer, he gives me a chance and I beat him.
Money doesn’t put me off a console at all (hence I got a PS2)

So, what sort if gamer am I?

er-no, Brilliant writer, great friend and well respected... and prejudiced?

A hardcore gamer in my mind is someone who has been a gaming fan all their life. If someone born in 1993 has loved gaming all their life, has every game ever made and so forth but isn't hardcore cause he wasn't born in the age of gaming.

lets be fair, each gamer is different in their own right and shouldn't fit into a catagory.

It is a good post though.

Here's to the future

Good topic though. Bit chauvensitic mind, which I'm sure isn't the right word, but simular to what the right word is.

There was a topic loads of us did ages ago very simular to this, called the stages of gaming.

Started off with you playing Beehive Bedlam, continuing through dreaming about sleeping with Stevie Case, and going on to being Stevie Case, being Sid Meier. Stuff like that.

Ages old though.
