So now there's talk for Sven's head and calls for him to be fired because apparently he did it with some secretary or something.

Where were these calls when his negative tactics cost us Euro 2004? You know, stuff actually related to football, what he's payed to do. I personally couldn't give a toss what he does in his personal life, sleep with Ulrika, sleep with this new woman. sleep with a bloomin sheep for all i care, all that bothers me is that he does his best and takes England to glory (an impossible task i know)

So why exactly is there more outrage about him getting his leg over then when he basically screwed England's chances

The FA are only 'acting' now because these latest rumours put theirselves into hot water. But, to get out of it the easy way, they find Sven-Goran Eriksson - already under-fire from the summer - to be their scapegoat that keeps their "high reputations..." in tact.

For once - and just a little bit - and I actually kind of feel sorry for the Swedish meatball. Sure, he's milked the Football Association of every penny they're not worth, and he is too afraid to turn a blatant wrong into a right, but, this time, he doesn't quite deserve all, it seems, he is going to be getting.

If only there was this £14m Compensation charge hanging over his head, I reckon they'd have sacked him already! However, it is still only a matter of 'weeks' before he goes, if you ask me... The FA are too weak to go back on something like this - and, with the way in which they've all reacted over it, you can only think that most of what we read simply has to be true. All they need, now, is a 'loophole' to get around the fee...

It is morally wrong. Yet again, those Muppets have proven they know not how to do a single thing in the correct manner. They're titles describe them as 'proffesional', yet, Eric Cantona was more deserving of that word when he kung-fu-kicked that fan at Selhurst Park!!

If they were truly unhappy with Eriksson's managerial side of things - which, indeed, many of us were - they should've sent him packing a long time ago, instead of waiting for an 'easy oppurtunity', like this.

I agree about the stupidity of the medias player rating writers. However I'm sure Wayne would've found a way on to the back page somehow.

Besides, who crossed it in for Lampard?

i am not talking about his good performances. His stolen glory performances are the ones where he bags a penalty at the end having had a poor performance, then its his picture on the back of the paper rather than the person whose goal it was that got us back into it. Just because beckham ran at the camera's with his arms flailing and sells papers.

If beckham had scored the penalty against France, whose pic do you reckon would have been on the back of the paper? Not Frank Lampard who got us into the leading position, not rooney who played excellently all game and won us the penalty. yes thats right it would have been becks getting all the credit on the back of the papers and have been given an 8 or 9/10 rating by a buch of moronic journalists who just look at the scoresheet to write their report.

I certainly wouldn't call it stolen glory. He deserves all of his good performances, cos he works so damn hard and has been there so often when the whole other 10 men haven't.

If Wilkinson didn't play so well after this op, you wouldn't say it's fairing out from stolen glory. They both deserve their good performances.

No i blame beckham too.He has been thoroughly substandard since the greece game. He was easily our worst player in qualifying the turkey game (not the one when he missed the peno. the 2-0) was quite possibly the worst recent performance i have seen from an england player (and i saw micheal rickets and phill neville). Lichenstein he was genuinely the worst player on the pitch.

I actually like beckham as a player and have seen a few good real games of his early last season.

But one bad tournament is a lie. He cost us the world cup to (with the help of a few others) though it wasn't directly his fault that he was selected, he was no where near fit and each game was rubbish with nil contribution, we would have been much better of having a less talented player who could give his all and was fit.

Even the Greece game is a bit of a myth. It wasn't the spectacular performance it was made out to be, he scored a 92nd min free kick having missed about ten previously from the same position. We would most likely have made it through the play offs anyway.

Internationally Becks has underperformed for over 2 and a half years now, and it has just taken the misses to wake people upto this. On top of this i am quite glad he is getting rubbished for it. If you look at a few other games (ie lichenstein) were he dispatched a penalty but had one of the worst games of his career, he gets his picture on the back of the paper stealing all the glory in the corner from the first goal scorer. This is a case of what goes around comes around, and he is getting a big low for previous stolen glory.

Considering Becks was the sole reason we got past that Greece game to get into the last wrold cup, and that he's scored penalties (and free kicks)before Euro 04, and that he had just moved abroad to a country whos language he doesn't know (i mean bless, he hasn't even conquered English yet :)

We can ease up on him for having one bad tournament. Besides, I think we'd have done even worse with out him.

We lost because we played far too defensively even when we were on top. I was screaming at the tv, because the back 4 couldn't bring the line up because the midfield was pinning them into the 6 yard box for goodness sake.

it was svens fault we were in that position though. We should have beat portugal and france once we went 1-0 up. You can't defennd for 60 mins (especially using phil nevile) against world class opposition and expect to get away with it (no greecedidn't expect to get away with it, but the luck was with them).

His subs bordered on moronic. Everyone new as we watched that they were suicidal

Sven deserves sacking on tactical grounds but if we can do it for free for a disrepute charge i am happy.
