This trilogy will explain how the Jedi came about and how they got along thousands of years before they had the technology to use things like Lightsaabers.

I would expect them to follow this rough structure:

Star Wars Episode -2: A Jedi is Born

This details the life and tribulations of the first Jedi to discover his powers. One day he wakes up feeling somewhat enlightened and feels he must do his part to protect the people of his world and with this he rampages around cities using a stick to beat up bad guys, kind of like a superhero who doesn't actually have any powers.

Then one day, when he is feeling dejected, he eats some mushrooms growing in the field beside his house and he discovers the force. With this, he has real power and can begin "the reign of the Jedi" as he uncovers more people who have this gift.

Star Wars Episode -1: A Council to Govern

This details the forming of the Jedi council and explains its exact structure. It follows multiple councils over a wide span of time, therefore allowing us to see the Jedis evolve as their technology improves and their knowledge of their power grows.

The Sith would also be introduced in this film, as some kind of breakaway group or evil counter-group who discovers the secret of the Jedi power.

Star Wars Episode 0: The New Generation

This film is dedicated solely to Yoda, and tells of all the main events of his life right up to the phantom menace. He explains his knowledge and Jedi concepts throughout the film by turning to the camera at key moments with meanings that a viewer might not catch onto straight away. Typically, the rest of the scene would freeze at this point and Yoda would stare at the camera and explain what's going on.

This film would be full of wisdom and philosophy.

By creating these films George Lucas would have a trilogy of trilogies and people would actually understand where the Jedi come from and how they became what they are in the more recent films.

It'd be very helpful.

A new Star Wars movie every 5 years, with a different guest director every time. Imagine a Fincher Star Wars movie. Or a Tarantino Star Wars movie. Or a Woody Allen Star Wars movie.

"The Adventures of C3PO"

That would ROCK.

a trilogy created spanning the era during which 'Knights of the Old Republic' was set, would be an interesting idea.

but how much more 'goodness' can lucas wring out of the series? you can only make so many before they become stale. Originally I was keen on there being a further 3 set after the original trilogy, but now I'm glad lucas has said no - after episode 3, I think they should let this mostly excellent *cough - phantom menace - cough* series die with just a little bit of dignity.

If I have to suffer the camp adventures of that god awful C3PO any longer I don't think I could contain myself. That whole scene with his head being pulled off and stuck on a droids shoulders in episode 2 was quite frankly embarrassing.
