Freshly Exhumed writes "Add another bonus point for the
Darwinians/evolutionists. A macaque at the Safari Park Zoo in Ramat Gan,
Israel has recovered from a near-fatal illness in an unusual way: she has
switched exclusively to walking on her hind legs. Given theories of human
history that stress the effect of disease on events and changes, as in
William H. McNeill's Plagues and Peoples, what if an illness was the cause
of the shift to bipedal motion by our evolutionary ancestors, and rote
imitation by offspring or another set of circumstances locked it in? No
matter, this could be a fascinating study of the macaque's altered brain
functions."

Snap.
I feel that everyone's life is different, so how can one set of rules (i.e. the bible) apply to everyone? Ok, the basics are the same, no murder etc. But everyone deals with different situations in different ways. That's the way people learn - by experiencing stuff.
If the bible/rules of any religion limit what people can do, then we won't learn. If we don't learn, we don't adapt. If we don't adapt, we don't evolve.
Hmmm. Why do I get the feeling I'll read this back and it won't make any sense...
Still, I'll plough on anyway. I think that most people behave the way the bible says anyway. There's only one major thing that I can think of, with my limited knowledge of the bible, and that's sex before marriage. Oh, and gays.
But apart from that, I reckon that the majority of people won't be pi$$ing him upstairs off that much at the moment. But maybe I'm being a bit naive...

Thanks. Appreciated!

Oddly, that's broadly what I believe too. I believe in a higher power, I just don't believe it's relevant to my everyday life.

That's the most anal answer Ive ever seen to anything. And we all know what God thinks of bummers...
I probably should have read through the whole thread, but I just don't seem to have as much time as I'd like on here any more.
Perhaps I got a bit narked because of the number of religious threads about recently. Who knows.
Anyhoo, for what it's worth, I reckon that the is some kind of higher being, who set us up, and started us off, and then "nature/evoution" (for want of a better word) took over.
