I want to scan some pics in to my computer and then create a sort of slide show, i also want it to show the pictures while music is playing in the background. Any suggestions how i go about it. (like a short video clip} I want the images to merge from pic to pic and have different effects.

I would appreciate it f anyone can help.

That's a good one...

I think you may have to transport the music file with theslideshow - I don't think there is a way of integrating the file with the presentation.

I may be wrong though - I've never attempted it myself I'm afraid.

As you know i have done slide show, managed to get music playing in background but it plays from my desktop. So if i was to send the file to someone else they would get the slide show minus the music. Is there anyway i can send it to them and they get the song playing too aswell as the show. Is there a way of saving the music file to the slideshow.

If you still feel limited, you could always do it in Windows Movie Maker. If you have XP, it's already installed (I suggest upgrading to MM2 for free :)).

It's great for things like that, and it has some awesome transition effects.

Slide transition? or between objects on a single slide?

If it's slide transition, go to Slide Show > Slide Transition > Advance - and change from 'mouse click' or whatever time it's set at to the number of seconds you want.

EDIT - You'll have to deselct 'on mouse click' otherwise it'll still wait for a click, regardless of how long you set a time

That's it - Powerpoint, not Publisher! Powerpoint is what you need.
