Saw this last night, and it's excellent, really reminded me of Sam Raimi's Evil Dead films - especially Army of Darkness. I won't give anything away, but the bit where Doc Ock trashes the operating room, and then it zooms in on the chainsaw, I did a little girlish giggle of glee. Thank God they actually had a good villain this time. And Bruce Campbell, he rocks in everything. Probably the best superhero film I've seen from the current batch of CGI-enhanced monstrosities, but that's probably because I didn't really know the characters, or the villains. Apparently there's a whole back-catalogue of weirdos waiting to be unleashed - including some to do with characters already introduced.

One thing that was quite refreshing was the editing; if there's one thing that gets my goat it's when directors feel the need to put about 30 cuts per second in their action movie, like I'm some MTV-watching moron with an attention span of 0.2 microseconds. Dawn of the Dead was guilty of that.

Spider-Man 2's action sequences were really nicely plotted, and you never thought 'who punched who?' or 'which way up are they?' (Considering you've got a human spider and a man with 8 limbs, that's pretty impressive). The sequence on the train was awesome, as was the bit on the clock tower.

It's the little funny bits that made it for me, little irreverant bits of humour like the car alarm, and the conversation in the lift. Jameson is excellent.

Yeah the Evil Dead style and chainsaw refference brought a smile to my face to. I guess it proves he was given more freedom this time after the success of the original.
