PvP refers to Player Vs Player. Basically where players from each opposing side (in this case, the Alliance and Hoard) can fight each other.
PvE is Player Vs Environment. Essentially more co-op orientated, people group up and kill those monsters and creatures that are part of the environment, usually completing missions together or hunting through dungeons.

I pre-ordered from Amazon ages ago, but it hasn't been despatched yet (and it would have to have been to arrive on friday) and they still say Feb 24-25th for estimated delivery.
