It's a system hog because Sony made it so that in a years time you can still crank up settings for it to look even better. It runs very well with lower settings and still looks damn nice. There isn't a pc in existance yet that can run it at full settings at a playable frame rate, but you have to remember that they did that on purpose so that they wont have to upgrade the graphics engine for a good while yet.
As for it being one long boring skill grind... well somebody obviously doesn't like doing quests and just wants to level, thats thier choice of how to play the game. Personally I have done zero grinding so far and am at level29.
The main problem is that there are far too many people playing it like EverQuest1 which it isn't. Sony actually made the quests worthwhile for the main part.
