Star Wars: Episode 3.5: The Console Conflicts.

Introduction:

A short distance away from the planet Tatooine, the Freighter "Kojima`s Fire" lay dead in space. Surrounding it lay debris, glowing in the light from Tatooine`s Twin Sun`s. Bathed in this glorius shine, the damage and carnage that had occured only a few hours ago appeared non-existant. In the distance, a large cargo ship could be seen moving towards its exit vector ready for the jump to hyperspace, totally oblivious to the events that had taken place orbiting Tatooine.

As soon as the cargo ship disappeared from sight, movement began as a ship of unidentified design moved towards the wreckage. Moving with the amount of control only a master pilot could manage, it manoeuvered carefully between each piece of debris, examining each of the larger parts in turn. There was a logo on the side. It was the familiar pattern of the Empire. Belonging to Emperor Gates, this would most probably be a scout vehicle. Its mission would almost definitely be to collect data about the top secret Metal Gear Solid 2 storyline, which the Kojima`s Fire had been carrying within its databases. Suddenly the engine cut out, and an alarm sounded within the ship, forcing the pilot to press the "restart" button. All data about the MGS2 storyline was lost. However, the Empire was still in with a good chance of displacing the other holders of power.

Main Chapter:

Meanwhile, aboard the Sony alliance flagship, "The Snake`s Breath", a highly secretive meeting was taking place. Due to the incredible power of the Gates Empire, representatives from the Sony alliance had called a truce which their rivals, the Nintendo Pirates, in order to form a treaty that could push the balance of power away from the Empire. A large luxury space yacht was stowed in the docking bay of the flagship, belonging to the Nintendo Pirates. It was the latest in Pirate design and came equipped with an N64 as standard, with a gamecube as an optional extra. This of course had all the extras as it belonged to very high ranking members of the pirate group. There were rumble packs, four controllers, and even a copy of Goldeneye, considered to be the main weapon of the pirate group.

Several floors above the docking bay, the meeting was disintegrating into an argument. The direction this argument took was predicatble and almost childish, due to the fact that it was the same argument that took place every time the two groups met. Sat at a large rectangular table, the colour of a PS2, and with the Sony logo as a centerpiece, each of the representatives from Sony and Nintendo was given a seat of equal size (except that the ones from Sony had a cushion). The representatives were arranged so that they alternated 2 Sony reps to 1 Nintendo pirate. Darth Vader, the leader of the pirate group (He was once a huge military leader, but circumstances changed), began the argument in the same way he always did, trying to demonstrate the greater experience of the Pirates.

Darth Vader - When Nintendo began, they were but to learn. Now they are the Masters.

Obi-Wan - Only a master of games Darth.
(Obi-Wan was the President of Sony, and as always he responded to the pirates by taunting their devotion to games machines only, stating that they are ignoring the true future of gaming.)

Darth - The power of this Playstation2 is insignificant next to the power of the Gamecube.
(Vader had a quick temper, and when he was angry he would often begin to make unfounded accusations)

Obi-Wan - Nintendo, where you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
(Obi-Wan was now also very annoyed, and this comment was directed not only at Vader, but at the whole assembly of beings aroung the table)

Han Solo - There`s nothing like a good PS2 controller at your side.
(Han Solo, responsible for much of the work that had been done in perfecting Gran Turismo decided to chip in with his own arguments)

Yoda - PS2 or Gamecube, there is no X-box.
(As always, Yoda managed to bring the group back towards their true objective. Yoda was the sole exception in terms of the cushion situation. He was the only rep with three cushions. Yoda had never particularly chosen a side to stand with. He had always dabbled in both sides, and was very difficult to read. He always seemed to have one foot either side of the fence. Though I suppose when you seem to be the only one of your species, then you are limited in your choices)

Darth - Join with me, and we can rule the galaxy as farther and son.

(There was silence for some time, as nobody had any idea who Vader was talking to)

Darth - Oh, I`m sorry. I forgot. Wrong story. Ooops.

Obi-Wan - This little arguments not worth the effort. Come, let me help you somewhere.

Darth - Yes, if Gates could be turned he would be a powerful ally.

Yoda - No, turn him not. Defeat him we must.

Dodonna - A direct gaming assault is not possible as the Empire is heavily shielded by many developers, we will have to use subversive tactics.
(The leader of intelligence findings for Sony informed the group of the full plans for the assault. Mission objectives included anti-Gates propaganda, and competitive pricing)

Darth - Our main objective must be to secure the planet of Japan. If we can keep this planet as our own, then the power of the gates Empire will not be able to spread, and they will be thwarted!

Dodonna - If you look at the datapads in front of you (Dodonna gestures to the table surface, with datapads positioned in front of each representative), you will see the main plan for maintaining control over the population. The governors will now have diret control over their sectors.

Yoda - You have all seen the plan. Now we must go, and may the Cheats and Tips books be with you.

Epilogue:
The Sony alliance and Nintendo Pirates successfully maintained control of the planet Japan. Their success was mostly brought about by two things. 1) The release of the Gameboy Advance. (Also available with all Nintendo Landspeeders of class 38 or above). 2) The promise that there would still be a MGS2 despite "injuries sustained to Kojima". Kojima never appeared in person ever again, apparently as he was bust at work on later releases.

After securing the Planet Japan, balance was brought to the Universe, and with it the dissolution of the treaty between the Sony alliance and the Nintendo Pirates. Everyting was back to normal, with three very large groups co-existing in the Universe, struggling for a small edge over their competitors, but always finding that they are more equal than they think.

Possibly, except that I called Nintendo the "Nintendo Pirates". So you can never tell when pirates are going to deliver. There could be delays, and nobody yet knows the quality of the finished product. However, Europe could be added in a story extension.

Thanks SHEEPY, though that might have been a little more economical to have pressed reply, not quote. :-)
