is the uk version of ichi the killer censored? I just want to know because I've heard that the cut version is crap. And I'm thinking of getting it in that recently released boxset

just checked out the bbfc website. How lame, its cut. I'm just glad battle royale and uzumaki aren't because I recently ordered them off of www.play.com. It says that uzumaki is only a 15 though, when it says 18 on play.com

yeah they cut the uk version to s**t, try and get a jap version if u can.

It'll be cut to sh=t, no way in hell that the BBFC would let some of that violence through the system uncut.
I can remember reading something a while ago written by a BBFC guy saying that the film would even be cut to hell or just be banned outright. The BBFC have a real problem with sexual violence that shows the rape victim to be enjoying theirselves and almost eroticises the moment. Ichi having an enourmous amount of sadistic and sado violence is full of this kind of stuff.
It's an excellent film though, really original but pretty sick at times.
Just had a look on the BBFC website and this is what's written about it..
"To obtain this category cuts of 3m 15s were required. The cuts were Compulsory.
Cuts required to scenes of mutilated, raped or savagely beaten women or of sexual pleasure from violence. Cuts required in line with the requirements set out in the BBFC Classification Guidelines"
Should note that the film that was submitted to the BBFC was pre-cut before it even reached them as well. You'd be best off getting the uncut Dutch DVD off ebay.co.uk for cheap.
