The Sublime One

Jane was depressed. She had been ever since she had broken up with her boyfriend, Kyle. He was nineteen years of age (two older than Jane) and they had been in love for a long while. She had considered suicide many times but as many people do, she tried a lot of different methods to get over Kyle.

She locked herself in her small, dusty room and listened to music for many days but that didn’t work. She stayed in bed for ages but that wasn’t successful either. She refused to go to a doctor because she said that she didn’t need medical help, so the problem went unsolved for a long time.

After about two months, her mother (a tall, dark-haired woman with very long, thin legs) suggested that she should go for a walk alone. Jane took this advice and wandered away from the house. She was only meant to be away for a few hours, so when she didn’t turn up at the house the following morning, her mother was getting extremely worried.

Jane was lost. She had walked for many, many miles and was in a dusty land which appeared to be a desert. Jane lived in Egypt so there were many small deserts nearby, and Jane figured that she must have wandered into one without noticing.

She turned around and her vision wasn’t any different. All around her was an identical landscape: Occasional hills of sand and very vast areas of dust. There were no streams, rivers, seas or any form of water nearby. She panicked. She was most definitely lost and could possibly not escape. She began to sprint.

Under the hot midday sun, she would either die of dehydration or heat. She was sweating so badly that she was sure that her shorts would slip off at any time. She slowed down. In the distance there was a small hut. She ran as fast as she could until she was no more than ten metres away.

It was a very strange hut. It was wrecked and had cracks in every corner, yet amazingly it was still standing. The wood that it was made from was rotting. She crept over to it, still afraid that it could be haunted, and moved her hand slowly up to the brass door-knob and opened the door.

The door opened and in front of her stood a man. The man had long blonde hair, tied back in a knot. He was missing one eye and the other looked false. He has pointed ears and a round, fat nose. His mouth was curved into a serpent-like grin below a bushy moustache that had been carefully trimmed to perfection. He had a very muscled body and it was scarred all over. He was topless but was wearing old-fashioned shorts. He opened his mouth to speak.

‘Hello, I am the Sublime One and I have the ability to grant you any three wishes that you want. I can provide death, torture, love and many many more.’ Jane burst out laughing. The man’s grin turned into a frown. ‘Who are you, Aladdin?!’ she said, through shrieks of laughter. The man drew out a long, pointed blade attached to a metal handle. Jane screamed as loud as she could.

He threatened her and then put the shimmering silver sword back on the tiny table. ‘The Sublime One does not lie’ he said. ‘Okay, okay’ replied Jane, coolly. ‘Now what will your three wishes be?’ he asked. Thoughts were racing through her mind. She may as well give it a try and if it is fake she can leave. ‘OK’ she announced.

‘For my first wish, I would like you to make every single man on this Earth find me attractive, so that I could choose whoever I liked.’ ‘Hmmmmmmmm.....’ murmured the Sublime One. ‘Okay then’ he said.

‘For my second wish’, she said, ‘I would like to be a billionaire with a big house, twenty cars and a lifetime of happiness.’ ‘Easy enough’ responed the Sublime One.

‘For my third and final wish, I would like you to torture my ex-boyfriend, Kyle.’ she said, as the grin on her face broadened. Her eyes twinkled in an evil sort of way. ‘OK, wish granted.’ he responded. ‘How should he be tortured?’ responded the Sublime One quietly. ‘Er... I would like you to slit his wrists and gouge out his eyes with rusty nails. Then you should chop of his right leg and drop him in a pit of piranhas.’ she was smiling madly. ‘After that you should feed the remains of him to hyeenas.’ The Sublime One sat down. ‘Alright,’ he replied. He opened his mouth to speak again.

‘I will grant all of the wishes on one condition’ he said. ‘What?’ Jane asked. ‘I have not had it for so long and I would do anything for it at the moment.’ ‘And you are a very charming girl indeed,’ he added after seeing her puzzled expression.'I want it........ I need it......... more than anything........ in the world........ I need sex..........'

She tood up. ‘What?’ she stammered. ‘You heard me, I will make all of your dreams come true if you make my dream come true.’ Jane was thinking very hard. She had done it with Kyle many times before, but she had actually wanted to back then. The man in front of her was certinally not attractive but he was offering her things that were beyond her wildest dreams. ‘Okay’ she said.

She walked out of the back door. For about a second she considered running for it but then she would not get her wishes and The Sublime One would probably stop her with some kind of spell. But how did she know that The Sublime One was not just looking for sex. It would be a very obvious trap to fall into and she wasn’t sure what to do.

Finally, she came to a decision, she was going ahead with it. After all, she had absolutely nothing to lose. So she decided to get undressed right on the spot as there was no-one in sight. Once she was totally naked, she walked back into the hut and said ‘I’m ready.’

She climbed into the small bed in the corner of the hut and the man followed her. It was a very unpleasant sensation and the only thing that stopped her from going mad was the prospect at the end of the man’s fun.

After about four hours the man got out of bed and put some clothes back on. He was looking exhausted. He turned around and picked up a leather jacket and put it on before walking outside. ‘Where.. Where... a.. are you going?’ she stuttered. ‘You haven’t granted my three wishes yet!’ The man got on a large, red motorcycle and placed a round helmet on his head. He revved up the motorbike and turned around. ‘You’re a bit old to still believe in Genies, darling’, he said before zooming off into the darkness, leaving behind a terrified and outraged girl.

Do you have any idea how ridiculous this motorcycle riding pervert would actually look if he was real? I'd take my hat off to anybody that could draw up a quick artist's impression.

And how do you accidentally wander into a desert?

Fair enough, similar to FF in that personally I foudn the link to the sublime intangible, but the same comments apply. A few points - you seem to drop in descriptions as if you just think of them on the spot, or mention Jane lives in Egypt late, because she's walking through dusty lands.

However, there's promise. Just take a little more time (hypocritical coming from me, I know, but still).

You retold an old, crap joke hideously.

Poor basis for a story, poorly executed, butr, somehow, managed to show shoots of promise in description. As others have mentioned, though, it needs more feeling.

I was going to.
But the groans that surely would have followed weren't worth the effort.

No worry.
Since then, I caved my skull in with a length of shelving - rendering all short-term memory null and void. Hurrah!

Unlucky enough to have recollections of it, and not having suffered amnesia.
