So with the NBA drawn to a close now it's time to look forward to the only event worth watching in this summer's Olympics - The men's basketball. Time for the USA to avenge their humilitating loss when they finished 6th behind the likes of Argentina. (You'd think we'd suddenly turned into a English national side sucking so much at a sport we invented :-D) although to be fair none of the star players showed up with only Vince Carter trying to carry the team on his shoulders.

Well it seems the Americans took that defeat a tad personally and although their line up still lacks the frightening power it should, they still have probably the best line up out there since the Dream Team arrived in Barcelona. The likes of LeBron James, Tim Duncan, Allen Iverson, Richard Jefferson, Stephon Marbury, Carmelo Anthony and the new rookie sensation Omeka Okafur will all be going to Athens to reclaim our rightful place back as the greatest basketballing nation around. So hopefully with star players such as these the basketball will actually be worth watching this time around.

Still a bit annoyed that the likes of Garnett, Shaq, Kidd and McGrady didn't go (i'll let Kobe off the hook seeing as he still has that court case) as if the United States put out their strongest team it would resemble a match where the Harlem Globetrotters humiliate some college team

It's stupid, they trade Shaq off to the heat for 3 totally average players, when they should have demanded the Heat chucked Wade into the deal or they were off to the Mavs to actually get some decent players and generally treat the only player who actually looked like he wanted to win the finals like crap. Trade the most dominant player in the NBA ever for bloody Brian Grant? Stupid board decisions on par with United here

Now he's gone that means Payton and Malone will go as well seeing as they only came because of Shaq.

And all this when it's not even certain Kobe will be back next year seeing as he could be banged up, but ah well if he does get out least Kobe gets what he always wanted. His own team he'll never have to pass to and he gets to be on centre stage.

Shaq off to the Heat, but Kobe staying at the Lakers, without Jackson as well, the Lakers may struggle next year. Iguess this depends on whether Kobe goes to jail.

A sports store should stock them i'd guess if not just google basketball hoop and you should come up with a fair few choices.

Anyway big day for the Lakers today where we hopefully find out whether Kobe's staying put with us or going off to the Clippers. Why he'd leave now Shaq's getting traded i don't know, he's finally got what he wants now, the attention and spotlight is all on him and he can ball hog even more
