So with the NBA drawn to a close now it's time to look forward to the only event worth watching in this summer's Olympics - The men's basketball. Time for the USA to avenge their humilitating loss when they finished 6th behind the likes of Argentina. (You'd think we'd suddenly turned into a English national side sucking so much at a sport we invented :-D) although to be fair none of the star players showed up with only Vince Carter trying to carry the team on his shoulders.

Well it seems the Americans took that defeat a tad personally and although their line up still lacks the frightening power it should, they still have probably the best line up out there since the Dream Team arrived in Barcelona. The likes of LeBron James, Tim Duncan, Allen Iverson, Richard Jefferson, Stephon Marbury, Carmelo Anthony and the new rookie sensation Omeka Okafur will all be going to Athens to reclaim our rightful place back as the greatest basketballing nation around. So hopefully with star players such as these the basketball will actually be worth watching this time around.

Still a bit annoyed that the likes of Garnett, Shaq, Kidd and McGrady didn't go (i'll let Kobe off the hook seeing as he still has that court case) as if the United States put out their strongest team it would resemble a match where the Harlem Globetrotters humiliate some college team

Had they got a decent trade out of it i wouldn't have minded but for who they got it was diabolical, Miami got a great deal from it. They get the most dominant player in the league yet still keep their only decent player Wade. Should have gone and talked to the Mavs and got Nowitzski, sure we'd have had to face Shaq at least 4 times a year but least we'd have gotten a decent player. Basically next years Lakers will be last years Heat who couldn't even get it done in the East. This will be our transitional time all teams have to go through seeing as Payton and Malone will be leaving seeing as they only came because of Shaq

Kobe isn't even guaranteed to be coming back next year what with his court case so we've just got to cross our fingers and hope. But now he finally gets what he's always wanted, the spotlight and as much ball time and not having to pass as much as he likes.

By the way what do you think about Shaq leaving and Kobe staying on?

Should be, in the descriptions most of them say they can be adjusted anyway.

Cheers.

A couple of them look quite good - I'm only looking to spend £100-200. I'm assuming that they're all official size and height unless specified otherwise?

Expensive options there (especially considering in Canada they were priced at around $120 which is only about 55 quid. I'll look some more later when i have time

Half American, Half english. Father's American, Mother's English, although i'm thinking of disowning my english roots and become a honourary japanese person. If Cudicini can become English, i can become Japanese dammit :-D

Know what you mean, if you haven't found one by August i've got to go down to my old school with my friend to get her A Level results and i remember they had a stand alone one with a base you fill up with water to balance it out so i'll ask them where they got those from for you if you'd like and can wait so long. Until then i'll have a wander round my usual pages where i get my basketball stuff and keep an eye out for you

So you're American then, lakers?

This basketball hoop is proving a pain. As I said, I need a stand-alone one as there's no easy place to attach one to my house, but they seem to be incredibly rare.
