After completely ignoring PC gaming upto tonight I decided to grab AoE2 from my mate. From starting the game iv'e just stopped at the last training mission and that was a 10.00pm. On the few RTS games I have played I like to be thorough and this is no exeption. On the last training mission I did (capture 3 relics) I found myself attacking the good ol' brits with over 80 soldiers which was really fun.

So yes great game so far and didn't make my eyes bleed like I was expecting.

I can't believe you haven't played it 'til now.

Amazing game.

Sadly doesn't quite have the tactical side of other games.

Well, purely because Cossacks has loads more soldiers, means that it's more tactical in the sense that one catapult can't wipe out 1/20 of your army in one shot.

Also, the weaknesses and strengths aren't emphasised enough.

The game they use for Time Commanders is far more tactical, but I far prefer AoE for enjoyment.

Ah yes, I was wondering when that Time Commando's thing would get a release.

I got bored of AOEII. Defending was always so much better than attacking, yet you had to attack.

And I was too young to appreciate the 'strength/weakness' thing - I just tended to wade in and get pi*sed off.

It's been out for quite a while. Can't remember what it's called. Requires a beast of a computer though.

Another realism/tactical problem is that at times you were relying on one unit at a time slowly generating (click, click, click, click, click) and trotting off to battle, instead of drawing up troops and using them as an army, if you know what I mean.

I love seiging towns and using mini-tactics which AoE was perfect for.,
