I don't know what it is about old games, but they have a certain personality about them which attracts me to them. I found this some time ago, while still trying to write letters on this site I lost my way to a SNES rom site and downloaded a few of my old games which don't work anymore, I also love Micromachines on the megadrive as it's a really fun, don't ask me which one it was, it's a four player and you can make your own tracks.
Anyway, I was with a mate thismorning and she started playing snakes on her Nokia mobile phone, it's so basic but so addictive. This lead me to the topic, do we really like all the fancy graphics or would we rather pay 99% less for a game which keeps us entertained for ages but looks like it was made with a pen and paper?

I managed to buy a GBA in a games shop in Swansea.
And it's GREAT.

I'm on study leave when it's released so I can just pop into town and get it whilst yrs 7,8,9,10 are in school working :D
It's gonna be a mean console, I hope it does aswell or better than the original GB and GBC, it looks like the gamegear (slightly), but i'm sure that won't have anything to do with the sales except for it's gonna be bigger than the original. I think the best idea it's got is that you can play old GB games! fantiddlyastic!

It's not more powerful than a Playstation, unless you count the fact that it's portable.

Micro Machines 96' (released in early 95', I believe) ..that's the one with the track editor. Basic games can be great fun to play, but do they really keep you going for ages? Conker's bad Fur Day was slated for being too short, but it still lasted most people 15-20 hours on their first trek through the single player alone. I don't thikn you'd want to play snake for that long, somehow.
There are serveral games which have been famous for their 'addictive gameplay, yet simple graphics' - such as worms, lemmings, micro machines, tetris and the like. Yet they keep re-releaseing these, but they sell less well. So it can't be what we want, can it?

Yeah, if the addictability/plot/gameplay is there, the graphics can only add to the game. A game with wicked graphics, but cutting it fine on the things above is no good!!!
Why do you think I'm getting a GBA?
