A mate of mine purchased an A1200 at weekend for £27 with some games, joysticks, spare power pack etc. In good nick too. You can't grumble at that price. I have one myself, which currently resides in my wardrobe in several carrier bags, complete with about 200-300 'backed-up' games.

So we cracked those disks open and had a butchers at the laughable graphics. Shock horror - they really weren't that bad. A lot of the games wouldn't work due to Commodores ingenius idea of making the A1200 not backward compatible with the ol' A500. You can get some of them to work with Relokick 1.3, and by tinkering with the boot up options, but others refuse to. We were sat there eagerly waiting to see some of our old classics boot up, but were faced with the dreaded flashing red 'software error' bar.

Still, most of them worked and it was most agreeable. Classics like Pinball Dreams/Fantasies, Zany Golf, Lotus Challenge 3, Cannon Fodder, Walker, Shufflepuck Cafe, Hired Guns, North and South. I could go on, but I won't. One of the best forgotten greats was 'Scorched Tanks', a shareware title still being recreated for the PC I think.

Choose an angle, velocity, and one of the stupid amount of weapons available, and blow each other to hell. Crap graphics, stupid sound effects, but 9.9 out of 10 for fun factor.

Yes I'm a sad old jam jar glasses wearing geek with milk white skin, but I don't care. Classic gaming still brings a smile to my chops.

I've got a working A500+ and I'm looking for a couple of games for it, for a reasonable price obviously. Indy Heat and Lotus 3.

Indy Heat was a fun little racing game which I really want a working copy of.

Lotus 3 my brother lent out years ago, never got it back. I was really gutted because I ruled at that.

Also, I'm missing a disk on Super Skidmarks, not sure which one.

If anyone could help me with that, it would be much appreciated.

The best joystick I've ever used was an Amiga joystick. It was black with yellow buttons.

Yay, finally found out hat it was called -

Captain Planet and the Planeteers

Looks rather pants now, but I used to love it.

Got help from this website - http://hol.abime.net/team.php - which is a rather excellent resource for the Amiga games library. the guys there identified it straight away with the vague description I used.

Now to get an emulator...

Ah, memories :)

I wonder if you can help - I remember a game I used to have - which I think was on an Amiga.

It was a side-on platformer where you picked a character from a bunch - each with special - element powers. After completing the level, you were taken up to the 'Ozone Layer' to try and fix it.

I keep thinking it's global Gladiators, but it's nothing like that. I can't, for the life of me, think what it is :S

Oh, and I used to rule at Lotus Turbo Challenge :D
