(the) Sublime

Henceforth, you all shalt be able to make up about a million different things that are/encompass etc, the 'sublime'.

Nice topic, very open. :-)

Sublime originated during the 1800s, as far as I'm aware. It was used to describe landscapes/vistas that were so awe-inspiring and dominating that they transcended the level of 'natural beauty' (from Wordsworth) to God-levels of sheers size and expanse.

That, as far as I'm aware, is the origin of the main use of the word. There are undoubtedly many others, probably that is just an offshoot in fact. Of course, anything wonderful or awe inspiring can be described as sublime.

And why Chipseh, Billy Corgan?

This is tricky, I'll try to enter but don't count on it.

I'd like to write a nice story, but they always turn into twisted crap. :-D

Everytime I start to write, I realise that I'm just whining, and not telling a story...
