Well after Monday nobody though Gerrard would move clubs! And he hasn't. Man utd have signed Gerard Pique from Barca an highly rated 17 year old centre back on a 5 year contract. Barca can't be best pleased they are losing a lot of their brightest prospects to abroad and it reminds me of the furore surrounding Cesc Fabregas' transfer to Arsenal last season. European clubs seem to lose a fair few of their youngsters to countries like britain primarily due to a fear off integrating youngsters into the squad. People like portillo go to waste as a result.

Oh well their loss our gain!

Saw Gerard Pique a couple of seasons ago when I went to Spain, he looks a class defender, 6ft 3 strong and good on the ball. United's scouts were also at the game.

He captained the Under 17's from when he was about 15 and has never looked back. Barca must be extremely dissapointed and so must be Arsene Wenger who has also been tracking him.

Oh i forgot to add the funniest thing about the former Barca player is that his Name is actually Gerard Pique Bernabeu he's not gonna be popular when man utd lose to real with a suspicious last minute pique oggy!
