Well after Monday nobody though Gerrard would move clubs! And he hasn't. Man utd have signed Gerard Pique from Barca an highly rated 17 year old centre back on a 5 year contract. Barca can't be best pleased they are losing a lot of their brightest prospects to abroad and it reminds me of the furore surrounding Cesc Fabregas' transfer to Arsenal last season. European clubs seem to lose a fair few of their youngsters to countries like britain primarily due to a fear off integrating youngsters into the squad. People like portillo go to waste as a result.

Oh well their loss our gain!

We definitly need 1 maybe 2 midfielders now. One as a creative player actually making chances for our forwards now instead of the uninspiring rubbish United turned out last year (the final delivery was terrible, i lost count of the amount of crosses that just got cleared by the first man) and a hard tackling player to control the centre of the park and take the game by the scruff of the neck.

My two players of choice would be Jaoquin and Gattuso, they would fill those roles very well and if they signed (bloody unlikely with the board we have) they may as well hand the title over right away.

We don't really need more defenders since Heinze, O'Shea and Silvestre can play left back or Left Centre Back and Wes played well towards the end of the season, you gotta remember he had a career threatening injury and with Rio returning he will instill the more confidence back into Wes.

I agree we need another midfielder and a DMC for a long term Keane replacement. We need someone who can make things happen but I have got a funny feeling Fergie wants to give Kleberson another go.

I don't agree with you comments about Fletcher, intially I thought the same but when I saw him boss the midfield especially in the Arsenal game, I think he has potential to become great - but he certainly has to develop areas, sometimes gives the ball away too much.

I think Fergie is looking to sell now and I see Butt & Forlan both going this summer maybe even 1 or 2 others.

Think they shud keep Flecther...everything else i agree on

crespo never really faltered, he never really got a chance to start. his prem strike ratio was very good and i believe he was one of the top ones for goals to minutes on pitch. plus he had the injury, if he plays every game he will be immense.

Man utd are looking good for next season, but i havce to say if i was a united fan i'd like to see another top centre midfielder at the club if but is to go, and see a fewfringe players cut. Ie last seasons signings (minus CRonraldo), Brown you'll get good money for him and he is pretty crap, forlan, Phil neville who i would replace with hargreaves.

Fletcher (2-3?)
(don't think fletcher is good enough fopr a club of uniteds quality)

being the main valuable ones probably worth about 18-22 mill

Maybe hargreaves (7 mill)
Bouma would an astute signing very versatile, young and great general player, good CB and could do a job as he has at psv down the sides too. (6-7 mill)
Dawson (3 mill)

You would have 3 left sided backs and so would be completely covered. Dawson is worth a shot as a good youngster who wouldn't expect instant first team football.

Then you can just look out for a DMC during the season and providing there are no new developments during the season sign him at the end. Or make a big gerrard bid at the end of the season.

I think he'll go back to Spain, still a decent striker and you could have got a few bob for him.

He and Gudjonsen upfront where the tried and tested whilst the likes of Crespo faltered and Mutu kinda faded away.

You gotta hope that they both find their form again, but I would definatly start with Gudjonsen.

i'm pleased though. he is still a class act capable of 20+ goals a season, but we have to cut our strikers we need 3+ robben so Crespo can play pretty much every game and have a chance to build form like trevor 'enry and ruud.

Hope he joins a middle club i like. Hopefully boro or brum. Villa would do very well to sign him i could see him fitting in a treat especially as Angel is a gudjohnsen style striker.

Im quite surprised Chelsea let Jimmy go on a free, but then again they don't need the money.
