De La Rosa makes 9 different winners out of 9 races

De La Rosa has won the European Grand Prix with a fine display. He wasn't the quickest driver on the track but benefitted from spins and forced pitting. Most crucially, he survived what could only be described as a destruction derby behind him and bodywork all over the track.

The destruction started on lap 2 when Da Matta made a move on Fisichella, forcing him to spin in the middle of the track. Frentzen had nowhere to go but straight in Fisichella. Frentzen was forced to retire on lap 2 but Fisichella survived. His race was effectively over though, as he needed a new front wing.

It wasn't over yet. As the cameras showed Ralf Schumacher struggling to get out of the gravel, a massive incident occured involving 5 cars happened in another location. Barrichello and Da Matta were scrapping for a position, they made contact and both spun. Bruni and Pizzonia have an almost identical incident, Pizzonia misses Barrichello but Bruni hits him hard. Sato then ploughes into Bruni resulting in Bruni and Sato retiring on lap 6. Barrichello needed a new front wing and bodywork was all over the track.

It was truly amazing that there was only one puncture and that was in form Baumgartner and he retired on lap 28. Button was the final retirement on lap 57 with transmission problems.

The incidents were coming thick and fast as Firman spun a few times, Pizzonia and Coulthard tangled, Verstappen and Montoya tangled, Villeneuve spun, M Schumacher spun, Baumgartner, M Schumacher and Coulthard have a coming together, Baumgartner and M Schumacher spin and Coulthard sneaks through. Raikkonen was the fastest car on the track and was chasing down De La Rosa after his pit stop but it wasn't to be as Raikkonen spun out, probably due to an electrical problem which had to be corrected in the pits but any chances of a win were gone.

So De La Rosa gives himself a chance at the title and MG F1 the lead in the constructors Championship with the win. Heidfeld was chasing down De La Rosa towards the end but couldn't get close enough and settled for 2nd. Panis could be a possible Championship contender too with 3rd place. Pantano ends a poor run with 4th and Montoya could have possibly made it 3 3rd places in a row but an incident means he had to settle for 5th. Verstappen continues Minardi's run of points with 6th, Salo takes the Championship lead on his own with 7th and Coulthard picks up one point for 8th.

I now lead the predictions by twelve points. In your face, Foreman. Unfortunately, transmission failure for BAR man Button leaves him 5th in the championship.
