The hardcore title was good until they started the 24/7 thing, soon everybody had had the title for at least 5 secs so i was glad when they got rid of it.

Many WWE officials and wrestlers thought that the hardcore title matches would ruin other matches on the card. For example, if an undercard jobber could get smacked around the head with a trash can/kendo stick/shopping cart and still kick out, how on earth could we take a chair shot seriously as a legit finishing off as a main eventer?

I have to agree with them on this, although I think it had more to do with them only using guys from the bottom of the card for the hardcore matches, rather than the lack of psychology...

What a shame though. Hardcore was one of my favourite titles. There would be no table or steel chair action and then the Hardcore match would come on, and everything would happen and that match would be the best on the night, even better than the main event.

Didn't WWE want to get away from the hardcore (attitude) era and go on to actual 'wrestling'.

It was retired.
