No it's not my first time to Tenerife for starters and for seconds i've been to Turkey about a million and one times where the locals are much much much much worse than the locals in Tenerife!

Saying you've been on holiday before means nothing, this is your first time to Tenerife yes? Then obviously it's not going to be the exact same. As for your mums advice that should be said for pubs and clubs here. I'm talking about guys trying to lead you off somewhere when you're already drunk.
