The European Grand Prix is at the Nurburgring and the qualifying last year saw Alonso take pole position in the Renault and Irvine 2nd in the Senna G.P. Alonso and Irvine aren't racing this year and MG F1 have taken over from Senna G.P.
Out of the main contenders for this year, Button got a solid 5th on the grid, Villeneuve was stuck down in 17th, Pizzonia started 10th and Ralf Schumacher in 8th.
The race last year saw Verstappen come through from 3rd on the grid to win with Alonso's Renault in 2nd and Ralf Schumacher in 3rd. Remember that Alonso is not racing this year!
Out of the Championship contenders this year that raced last year, Ralf Schumacher was 3rd, Button finished 4th, Villeneuve was 16th and Pizzonia failed to finish with transmission problems.
