Is it instantly noticeable if you are running DDR Ram when playing games? i.e is there such a big performance difference between running two sticks of 512mb 3200 compared to 2 x 256 3200 and 1 stick of 512mb 3200?

Named examples or instances of massive differences would be appreciated.

Cheers!

DDR only works with matched pairs, ie, same brand, cl, size etc. Some processors, esp the FX51 require matched registered pairs to work (thank god they ditched this in the fx53!)

My nForce 2 mobo came with 2x256 in normal, switch it to Dual Chan and the difference is amazing.

Yeah cheers, might wait for DDR2 now which isn't far off, I can grab a new Hard Drive and look into a new processor but I will wait with the RAM situation.

With regards to a new Hard Drive, would something like this be worth it http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=122429&cks=PRL ? How does Serial ATA work, what sort of connection to the motherboard etc...

Cheers.
