The time is 11:07, which means at this very moment Apple is holding a press conference in London. The iTunes Music Store is launched today, meaning you can download any track you like for £0.99. There's also free demo's and some iTMS exclusives, so download iTunes http://www.apple.com/itunes and check it out.

Of course, iTMS won't be up just yet ;)

"Franz Ferdinand, Basement Jaxx and The White Stripes and a host of other bands including So Solid Crew, Badly Drawn Boy, Cold Cut, Dizzee Rascal and Craig David are refusing to license their music to iTunes."

I can't use Visa Electron with it.

Damn you, Chipseh - I was just gonna post that!

"Apple will offer music song for purchase (via download) for 0.99€ in Germany and France and 79 pence in the UK, while full albums will be priced at 9.99€ (France and Germany) and 7.99 pounds in the UK."

Update

Steve Jobs announced that each tract is £0.79.

Not too bad, then.

99p? I thought it cost 99 cents to download from the American shop. Nice to see Europe getting a crap deal again. Apple are also trying to give independents a really bad deal http://media.guardian.co.uk/site/story/0,14173,1239200,00.html - it's 'commercial suicide' for them to sign up apparently.

I'll stick to Soulseek, thanks.

99p is a bit steep for a single track.

Does it include burning rights?
