It's more with the differant make bios chips than the motherboard.

Do you know what all the patterns mean as i thought that each mother board had a series of different beeps.

Unplug all the hard disks and cdrom drives, and all pci cards (but not the graphics card). Does it boot showing the BIOS text on screen? Does the PC speaker beep, and if so how many times and in what pattern? Does the monitor show any signs of activity (like the light turning from orange to green, which would imply it's getting a signal where there wasn't one before)?

First of all do you hear a beep when you turn on the PC? If you hear more than one beep then that gives you a clue to what the problem is.

if you have no data apear on the screen then you should try re-seating the componants, you should get something on the screen straight away and it should not just be blank.

Also a lot of motherboards have the F2 key to get into the bios.
