Being a Nintendo Man myself I don't see it as possible to look at a Playstation 2, PSOne or even a Dreamcast in the same way I do my N64.
At £100 the Dreamcast is a bargain, 128 Bit, Internet Connection, Ace graphics, PSO, Shenmue, Sonic...enough said. All this and the promise of more great titles to come and yet I still cant bring myself to part with my £100 to buy a Dreamcast, and the funny thing is, I will be more than willing to splash-out a certain £260 to buy the Gamecube and 2 release games.
Why is this, I thought...it may just be because I am bias...we all are, there is no-one that can be 100% neutral. We all have our favourites and we all have our most hated.
I know in my mind that I could get a DC and 2 top titles for about £150 (New) but why can't I buy one...? I would really like to experience games like JSR, MSR, Shenmue and PSO, but I suppose that because I am so, Nintendo-Driven...in a way...I would go for the latest Rare hit like Banjo-Tooie or Conker.
So really it is rather pointless to try and get your freinds, foes and family to jump-ship. They, like me, will have their favourites and there is nothing you can do to desuade them from it. Nintendo haters, for lack of a better word, might not like Games like Banjo and Mario because of the babyish feel to them, but Nintendo might not like games like Sega Bass Fishing and Sonic because of the graphics....of course they aren't bad but they are not Nintendo style...
Even Perfect Dark was Banjo-Tooie ish with different textures and colours, and of course a different engine. The N64 just wasn't Oldish gamer friendly...of course the Gamecube, wityh games like Metroid and Too Human might change all this but YOU won't, you can show it them all you want, as I have been shown the Dreamcast but ultimately it is up to them to decide what they buy.
I wouldn't mind a DC or a PS2, but I don't think I would pay anything for them...It might just be concreted in my mind that Nintendo is what I buy...I don't think it is fate or anything like that but...I think that unless a more advanced, or more to the point, up to date console is released poeple won't jump ship too much. The PS2 saw lots of people from all platforms flee to jump on the 'bad-wagon' (Spelling Intended) of what they thought might be the most successful console, but as it turns out the PS2's launch disappointed in many areas. I don't think I would get a Dreamcast unless they were $50 and I could get -10% on top of that. Price is a big factor aswell but I don't think that much can deter people from their homeland.
I am Nintendo through and through...I wouldn't miss a Rare game for the world, and it will take a lot more than the PS2 and it's 'limitless' 3rd party support to lure me away. I am already set on getting a Gamecube...I don't quite know why but I suppose it must be to do with the fact I am a Nintendo fan, it seems as though I don't have a choice...!
scary(not)

Why did you want to laugh in his face? You must of known the Dc was a quality console!
but i went ahead. I was a bout to stat my ramble about how

The PS2 is no better than the Dreamcast (IMO) but give the PS2 time to shine, and it will.

I bet you did. All of those games you played are superb!
Dreamcasts

It didn't get a bad reputation, just not much of a reputation at all, for some weird reason.
After tht

Dreamcast is more of an arcady console where the PS2 is different. The games are more sophisticated on the PS2. I’m not saying this is better or worse than the Dreamcast, just a different style. In fact, I prefer the style on the Dreamcast
It’s not just about what console has the best graphics; it’s about how much YOU enjoy them. We have been blessed with gaming to have fun. It’s not a chore, we love to play games.
It was't long before i

So

Nice way to end it off, and listen to the man when he says "get one" There are some really good deals out there and if your tight for money, it's not a problem because the DC is selling at £100 now I think.

Dreamcasts were amazing! And their bad reputation was undeserved.
After tht day my PS just seamed rubbish, not even a shaddow of a DC. The PS2 no longer interested me and i quickly understood not to believe everything you read, especally PS mags.
