IGN boards, Resi 4 -

'Waaahh, no pre-rendered backgrounds'
'Waaaahh, the story is rubbish, no Umbrellaaaa!'
'Waaahhh, there's too much action'
'Waaaahhh, it's not suspensful enough!'
'Waaaah, the whole US terrorism thing is just crap'

Right. Shut up.

Play REmake next to this. Play ANY (except the Nintendo legends, obviously) game next to this.

Nothing. They are NOTHING.

'Waaahhh, I hate RE4, it's too different'

Well, let's leave you in the past then, retard.

----

/end

I think I love this game too much.

No they didn't, there was extra sections that could only be unlocked with a new key, but the old sections were the same.

What a game the re-make was, so cannot wait for RE4?

No umbrella? No pre-rendered backdrops? No specialist scares and no cheesy dialogue? Oh well, I'll always have the memories.

Are you sure?

I remembering there being a lot less messing around when I played it on the Playstation, and some areas I could go in first time were some I'd have to wait ages for the right key in the remake.

Perhaps the locks and keys were there to a smaller extent, but I'm almost certain that the remake abused them further for cheap gameplay! :-p

No, it didn't. They were in the original.

You know what, remembering playing the original Resi on the Playstation, I think that the Gamecube version added in all the "sword key" and "shield key" keys and locks to seemingly add some more gameplay in.

It certainly made the whole lot more tedious.

Any news on the Resi 4 Gamecube Pak?

I'm still holding out for it.

REmake is the only Resi I've ever played and I found it hard work, so much so I never made it to the second disc. It looked great but the controls were awful, and although I don't mind backtracking (Metroid makes it so much more bearable) it was just dull wandering around for ages up the same corridors. Oh and the puzzles were often illogical and crap. The formula needed to be changed.

I haven't played RE4, but it just can't make the remake look like "nothing". Just can't. Can it? No. Maybe? No. Yes? No. Possibly....? No. Never. I don't believe it. Never. Ever. Please?

Bleh. I loved the Resi series, but had long since thought it was becoming stale. Could never complete Code Veronica because to me, rather than start a fresh, it felt like I was playing a recycled version of all those Resi games I’d already played. The series was becoming dull and predictable, Umbrella screws up again, lots of people turned into zombies, sole survivors battle for a way out while uncovering what happened, formulaic Boss fight, inane puzzles that force backtracking, end.

And while I was apprehensive at first about the action approach to Resident Evil 4, I’ve actually found it to be the breath of fresh air the series has been needing for a very long time. Honestly, can these people really say it was better spending the entire game dodging and running away from the undead while desperately trying to micro manage ammo for those situations that needed it? Because I can’t.
