They are all basically the same with a few extra features added to the more expensive versions for certain systems.
Just get XP Home.
XP Pro supports a whole load of networking gubbins that the average Home user won't need, including connecting to a domain and active directory/group policy gubbins. In general, Home is fine for Home use, though some power users may have a need for Pro.
Seems you are right, but I swear I have seen XP home supporting 2...
