The juicy stuff. Special effects, texturing, 2D animation. I dont exactly know what the purpose of this topic is, maybe to find out if any of you guys are already in the industry, learning the basics or have some hobbies that include this kinda stuff.
I have a range of software from high end Adobe Premiere & After Effects (which dont do what I had expected) to simple things like Windows Movie Maker 2 and those poo progs you get with digi cams. Just not really had any proper use for them yet.
I love the special effects in films like the matrix & terminator, but I know that they are way too far advanced for me to even want to begin learning.
Really then, anyone else interested in this line of work or even as a hobby? What software do you have/use? Whats your knowledge like?
Even if youre like me, just interested in it right now... lemme know what you think about it all.
Um, thats all... reply and maybe i'll remember why I started the topic in the first place.
Can I have your MSN addy or something, easier to chat to on that.
Or you can add me - [email protected]
anyways, you haven't specified what exactly you want to do.
After Effects is good for filtering green screen work and removing the reflection of the screen,
Premiere has built in titles and a few decent effects. Also has a really easy interface. plus if you save a section of film as a filmstrip, you can import into photoshop and add effects that way too :)
for the special effects you'd have to know your way around Maya, 3dsMAX and a few other 3d apps to create them. then it's just a case of compositing the layers of video.
sadly the software to do the 3d work is outrageously expensive (although Maya - "Personal learning edition" is free from www.alias.com, which i THINK watermarks things, but if you want to do serious stuff then you'll NEED to know the way around 3d apps and Maya is an industry standard)
it's great to get to know thise kind of stuff though, because you can totally just create your animation and actually see your idea come to life.
i'm trying to compress my first short into a more sensibly sized file to put on the web...
Guess i'll look at specialised forums for this sorta stuff.
And then a title screen
So, did this involve any 2D title creation and animation?
Including the title screens
