I downloaded a 168Mb file of what I thought was a porn film, but I should have looked at the extentsion, and instead of a Windows Media Player file it was an application, an MSDOS type thing. Anyway I double cliced (more retardedness) on it and it formed a window, then disappeared. Then I trie to delete it, but it was having none of it and said it could not be deleted since it was either write protected or may be in use. Now, it isn't write protected, and I did Ctrl, Alt, Del and checked out every process, and none of them was it, they were all kosher. Basically I just want to delete it, if you can help then many thanks.

Sly git of a thing, still won't change. Again, spouts out the same "file already in use" ball ox. And it's an .exe.

In windows explorer: Tools -> Folder Options -> View and untick "hide extensions for known file types" then you can manually rename the file extension

When I looked at it on kazaa, the description was "hot lesbian action" or something similar.
Now, it says "Warcraft_III_FULL_CRACK_1_Blizzard_Warcraft 3" - (that's a game isn't it?) and it doesn't end with a . anything. Can't rename the b**tard either, it just says the same crap about file being in use.

There is no option to open it with another program.

manually rename the file - it might be valid if you rename it with .avi at the end.

so it ends with .dat at the moment?

I used Kazaa to download it.

And I can only run it as one program - the one it is running as now. Won't change, just has "Open. then Run As." If I click that it just asks which user I want to run it with.

Try right clicking on it, then properties and see what program it opens with. Change it to open with another program, like Adobe Reader or something and then apply. It should be deleteable now.

I'd run a Spyware scan for all the crap that has probably installed.
