Some strange choices there. What are your opinions/views on Sven's squad for Euro 2004?
David James (Man City)
Paul Robinson (Tottenham)
*** Ian Walker (Leicester)
I'd take both James and Robinson but I would not of had Walker?!?! Martyn has played superb this season and is the only reason Everton stayed up.
Defenders:
Gary Neville (Man Utd)
*** Phil Neville (Man Utd)
Ashley Cole (Arsenal)
Wayne Bridge (Chelsea)
Sol Campbell (Arsenal)
John Terry (Chelsea)
Ledley King (Tottenham)
Jamie Carragher (Liverpool)
Is Sven mad picking Phil Neville? What has Phil Neville actually done for United this season? I would have picked J'Lloyd Samuel. He's been amazing for Villa this season and was one of the main players among their top 6 finish.
Midfielders:
David Beckham (Real Madrid)
Paul Scholes (Man Utd)
*** Nicky Butt (Man Utd)
Steven Gerrard (Liverpool)
Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
Owen Hargreaves (Bayern Munich)
Kieron Dyer (Newcastle)
*** Joe Cole (Chelsea)
How can you pick Butt when he hasn't hardly played for United this season. Don't get me wrong he is a good player, but he's lack of games could be costly. Joe Cole isn't too bad either, but I think he can be very selfish at times. Why isn't Barry in the squad?
He's got a natural left foot and has played brilliantly through 2 seasons. He never even gets call ups. Not only does he play on the left of Midfield, but he can also play in the centre and also in defence. This would help Sven if any injuries were picked up.
Strikers:
Michael Owen (Liverpool)
Emile Heskey (Liverpool)
Darius Vassell (Aston Villa)
*** Wayne Rooney (Everton)
What the hell has he done for Everton this season. He's too young and too bad tempered. He scored 1 good goal for Everton against Arsenal and had an amazing game against Turkey. Other than that he has played absolutly crap. Look at Beattie and you won't find many bad games in him.
Standby:
*** Jermain Defoe (Tottenham)
*** Richard Wright (Everton)
Matthew Upson (Birmingham)
Gareth Southgate (Middlesbrough)
Scott Parker (Chelsea)
Alan Smith (Leeds)
BYE BYE SVEN!!!
Richard Wright???
Come off it. Nigel Martyn has done a superb job for Everton and has kept Wright out of the starting line up, so somebody tell me what Sven was thinking when he picked Richard Wright over Nigel Martyn. What does Sven do when he goes to football matches?
Defoe isn't too bad, but he's too selfish and Beattie is a much better player and has scored twice as many goals than Defoe.
What a waste of an england squad place! where will he play?
Right back?- Gary, Carragher and hargreaves are all better than him
Maybe left back ahead of Cole or bridge? hahahhahahaha i think not.
Centre midfield? Of course he is far better than gerrard, lampard, butt, hargreaves who could all do defensive better than him. Or Lampard, Gerrard, scholes, cole and dyer who cane him going forward. I think Sven must have been puffing on some quite strong stuff when he picked Phill Neville.

*Sighs* Spose you proved my point though.

Yeah i realise that, but what are the chances of two keepers getting injured out there, especially with the amount of tackles they go in for...
Actually I withdraw that, REACHING FOR THE REMOTE SEEMS TO BE REALLY TAXING THESE DAYS......
> You need to take three keepers though.
Indeed, but if Sven was looking for experiance I would have taken Nigel Martyn ahead of the error prone Ian Walker.
He had an outstanding season with Everton and has made some crucial saves and warrants a place ahead of Ian Walker, who seems to have been thrown in because there no alternative.
Personally I would have taken a young keeper like Liverpool's Chris Kirkland, even if he didn't get a game, the experiance would have done him good.

Haha, he should so be in the team!
That goes for you too Mr Colourless...#
And yes, Joe Cole is incredible.

You need to take three keepers though. If James gets injured or suspended, then not having a keeper on the bench could be very hazardous.

Heh, what's wrong with that ;-)
Nah, I don't particularly like France either, so I don't really care. :-D
Bit dissapointed that Alan Smith hasn't been given the opportunity, I would rather have Defoe and Smith ahead of Heskey & Vassell and it is true Butt has been pretty dire this season and Dyer has too.
It looks like Sven has gone for experiance rather than young and upcoming, and we we will see how they get on this summer, anyway regardless of who plays get behind yer team...
Come on England!

Sorry, but I will be supporting France all the way. ;-)
