Defining any nation as a single characteristic is silly anyway, but to say any nation is cowardly is even sillier. We only survived in WW2 because we had a large stretch of water between us and Europe - what would have happened to us if the Blitzkrieg had moseyed on down to Dover from Calais -by land?
> Cowardly? Why? They ruled most of Europe at one point...
...And gave up very early in World War two. But then, they did have some pretty poor tactics, so who can blame them?
Wonderful city. Despite being odd in places. And tramps....oo er.
Stayed up a side street from the Moulin Rouge. Coulda got some prostitute action. Maybe. Anyway, Monmatre (up the hill to the church) is a gorgeous little maze of cobbled streets, trees, old buildings and flowers.
*Link didn't work for some reason, hence my love despite whatever the story may hold...
It was around 9.00 at night. Our teacher begins to explain the situation:
"This is a posh area of Paris and i don't want you to start messing around or behaving badly"
The coach stops, we couldn't reach our restaurant by coach so we will decide to go it on foot. But before we could, a french man (tramp?) jumps over a barrier in a nearby pavement works and bends over and craps onto the pavement (right in front of our faces!). Everyone on the front top deck (including me) saw the horror unfold, some of our mates started to bang on the coach window (we were soon advised not to by another teacher). After he had finished, the tramp had the courtously to at least cover it with news paper (i wonder what happened with the pavers?). We got out and had to walk past the disgusting scene. It made us wonder that night, what really was in that chocalate mousse dessert (thankfully, i chose apple pie).
So much for trying to being good in a posh area of paris.
> Moulon Roughe
Greatest spelling ever.
I'll never got to the Bois de Bologne after reading that.
